Porcelain Chip

Open slice is originally a natural cracking phenomenon of porcelain glaze. There are two reasons for cracking: one is the molding of billet clay along a certain direction extension, affecting the molecular arrangement; but billet, glaze expansion coefficient is different, the glaze layer shrinkage rate after baking and cooling. Therefore, the original cracking is a shortcoming in the firing of porcelain, but people mastered the laws of cracking and the production of open glaze (i.e., crackle glaze), into a special decoration for porcelain.

They were found in the Jun, Ru, Guan, and Ge kilns of the Song dynasty. Open flakes, also known as ice cracks, according to the color of eel blood, gold wire, light yellow caviar pattern; according to the shape of the net-shaped pattern, plum blossom pattern, fine crushed pattern, and so on.
